Janice Nicks
(December 4, 1926 to June 9, 2010)

Janice Moore Nicks, born December 4, 1926 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Malcolm and Wilma Moore passed away on June 9, 2010. The family moved to Fairland, OK in 1939 where she attended High School. Her family lived on Grand Lake on family land at Aspinwall.

Janice attended Northeastern Oklahoma Junior College and worked for SW Bell Telephone Company for two years before marrying her classmate and best friend.

Janice and Robert Nicks were married January 30, 1950 at Purcell, Oklahoma. Robert was with the Internal Revenue Service and was stationed in Miami, Oklahoma. They relocated to Tulsa in 1958 and raised three children; Walter, Brad, and Janet Marie Nicks.

Janice returned to finish her schooling and became an RPG computer programmer. Robert and Janice enjoyed working with school activities including wrestling, football and baseball teams as well as Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She started the Wright Jr. High Kitty Hawks Drill Team in the 1970's.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, growing flowers, traveling to Europe and China with her husband on business trips and spending time with her family, grandchildren and faithful dog and companion, Frankie.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm and Wilma Moore, her husband, Robert Nicks, and granddaughter Melissa Nicks.

Janice is survived by son: Walter and Lauren Nicks of Arlington, Texas; son: Brad and Betsy Nicks, and children, Scott and Abby of Orlando, Florida; and daughter: Jan Marie and Chad Johnson and children, Caitlin, Erin, and Connor of Bartow, Florida; and a brother: Leland and Sue Moore of Ortin, Washington. She was a loving wife, mother and friend with a great sense of humor. She will be missed.

Garland (Neel) Horn, a long-time resident of Miami, Oklahoma, died on Thursday, May 27th at St. Francis Hospital. She was 84.

Garland and husband of 23 years, Frank Horn, moved to Broken Arrow in 2009 to be closer to family.

Garland, born in Picher, Oklahoma, August 8, 1925, lived for her family. Music was in her soul, and was a passion she shared with loving husband, Frank. Her eyes sparkled with life; she loved the sunshine, and brought a little bit of that to everyone she met. She always greeted people with a loving smile. She truly celebrated life, living each day to its fullest potential.

Garland is survived by her husband, Frank and her children, Richard Neel, Gary Neel, Sheryl Campbell, Debbie Merz and Lori Sparkman; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, all who brought great joy to her life. She was preceded in death by parents, Zula Bell Delcour and Floyd Tooter Wood; two brothers, and first husband of 39 years, Dick Neel.

A celebration of Garland's life will be held on Tuesday, June 1st at 10:00 a.m. at All Souls Unitarian Church, 2952 South Peoria Avenue, Tulsa, OK. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Family and Children Services, Tulsa, 918-560-1118.

Jerry Lee Duff

Jerry Lee Duff, 78, is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Aylsa Jean Duff, of Kellyville, Oklahoma, and his daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Gay and Gary Dean Rollins of Edmond, Oklahoma. Jerry retired as a Captain from the Tulsa County Sheriffs Department and later from the Oklahoma State Department of Corrections. Previously, he was an industrial engineer and was co-owner of the Brass Ring Paso Fino Horse Farm.

His life was devoted to his community and youth programs in Tulsa. He was a member of the North Tulsa Lion’s Club, the Mason’s and Eastern Star. He was committed to God and Country and a member of Kellyville First Baptist Church. Jerry lived as he died, with humility and dignity.

Visitation for friends and family will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, May 10, 2010, at Stanley’s Funeral Home, 3959 E. 31st Street, Tulsa, OK. His life will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at Kellyville Fist Baptist Church, 306 E. Camden, Kellyville, OK. Jimmie Lee Ruth was born August 5, 1932, in Henryetta, Oklahoma. He departed this life May 8, 2010.

Jimmie graduated from Henryetta High School in 1950 and then joined the Navy, serving during the Korean War on an aircraft carrier. He then attended the University of Oklahoma, where he studied business administration. He was a member of the Phi Psi Fraternity. He later was co-owner of Jimmie Ruth Motor Co. and member of the Masonic Lodge in Henryetta.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ruth; one son: James Scott Ruth and wife, Cindi; two daughters: Hallie Ruth Trout and husband, Carl; and Jennifer Keener; stepdaughter: Rene’ Payne; grandsons: Jimmie Lee Trout and Caleb Keener; sister, Shirley Lackey and husband, Neal; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Thelma Ruth; his father: James Ruth; granddaughter, Chelsea Keener; and stepdaughter: Stephanie Payne.
