William Harold Parkinson, age 91, a resident of Granbury, Texas, passed
away November 7, 2014.
William, better known to his family and friends as Bill, was born February
18, 1923 in Okmulgee, OK to O. C. and Linda Parkinson.
He served in the US Coast Guard during WWII, based in Miami, FL. It was
there where he met the love of his life, Shirley. They were married in
1945. After the war, Bill attended Oklahoma State University and graduated
with a degree in accounting. He worked for Standard Oil Company/Amoco
for 35 years until his retirement in 1983. Living in Fort Worth and Tulsa,
Bill and Shirley were great parents as they raised their four children.
They were actively involved in the music ministry at Asbury Methodist
Church in Tulsa for over 40 years. Bill was an avid golfer, savvy bridge
player and after Bill's retirement, he and Shirley cherished their
opportunity to travel the world. He was a devoted husband to Shirley for
nearly 69 years before her death in January, 2014.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Parkinson and his son,
He is survived by his loving children, son Dean Parkinson and wife Sally
of Granbury, Texas, son Larry Parkinson and wife Judy of Lawton, Oklahoma,
daughter Anne Marie Patton and husband Brad of Katy, Texas. He is also
survived by grandchildren: Christy Hendri, Katie Patton, Cameron Patton,
Leslie Patton; great-grandchildren: Nadia Hendri and Aaron Hendri and
Brother, O. C. Parkinson, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Bill's
memory to Asbury UMC Tulsa.
