Philip John Collignon, 66, passed away on March 19, 2016 at his home in Tulsa.
Philip was born in Davenport, Iowa on October 28, 1949, one of three sons
to Evelyn Elizabeth (Lau) and Richard Lewis Collignon.
Philip moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in the late 1970s to begin his long career
in Aviation. He received his degree from Spartan College of Aeronautics
& Technology and Tulsa Community College. He was very proud of the
work he had done with McDonnell Douglas and Rockwell International. Philip
was an Aircraft Maintenance Processes Planner at American Airlines with
25 years of service.
Philip was married to Valerie Ann Spaid in May 1998. They have spent the
last 18 years traveling the world together. With this union, he also became
a step-father and, more importantly, a friend. He took great pride in
his role as Grand Father and Great Grand Father.
Philip had many passions in life and continued to add more. He loved planes,
music, books, classic movies, travel, the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival,
all things German, his dogs, his huge group of friends and, most of all,
his family.
Philip is survived by his wife Valerie, his step-son Jeremy and his wife
Keli, his grandson Tyler and his wife Lindsey, granddaughter Brittany
and her husband Kris, and his 5 great grandchildren, all of Tulsa; also
by his two brothers, Richard Collignon of Seattle, WA and Charles Collignon
of Davenport, IA.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Philip’s name to the
Tulsa Air & Space Museum.
Philip will be missed by so many. He had more friends than he realized.
He touched more lives than he knew. And, he would remind us all, “Carpe
Diem”.
A viewing will be held Thursday from 1pm until 8pm. A memorial service
will be held on Friday at 2pm. Both are at Stanley Funeral Home, 3959 E 31st St., Tulsa, OK 74135.
