In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. Psalm 56:11 Freda Ruth Jackson Kinkade, 79, passed away July 14th, 2013 in her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma from complications of lung cancer. She passed gently in her sleep, to the arms of her beloved Lord. Ruth was born February 16th, 1934 in Gideon, Oklahoma to Ralph and Elizabeth Johnson, the second of six children. She was blessed with two brothers, Ralph and Daniel, and three sisters, Helene, Wilma, and Caron, all of whom she loved dearly and with great pride. She graduated from Bagley High School in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She then studied at the University of Tulsa on a singing scholarship. In 1953 she married William Jackson, of Berryhill, Oklahoma. With Bill she raised two sons. Scott Jackson was born in December 1958, and John Jackson in November 1960. With her family she established long and loving homes in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Glencoe, Oklahoma. Her husband Bill died suddenly in 1985. She struggled with heartbreak in the first years, but with indomitable spirit created a new life for herself. An experienced switchboard operator, she worked for hospitals in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. In Tulsa, she took a small but pleasant house in Midtown and, applying the great love of flowers that she had learned from her mother, turned it into one of the most beautiful garden homes in the city. Her father, Ralph, died December 27, 1991 after a long illness. Ruth began making weekly trips to visit her mother in Tahlequah, often staying several days and bringing her mother back to Tulsa for visits. In July of 1999, her first son, Scott, died. The sorrow of his loss never left her. In 2002, she was contacted by an old high school friend, Robert "Bob" Kinkade. After what for her was a whirlwind courtship, they married in October 2003. Bob was a great comfort to her, returning the spark and love of life from her youth. He was by her side to comfort her when her beloved mother Beth passed away, September 8, 2004. She in turn gave him comfort and strength when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2005. Bob passed away February 5th, 2006. She often referred to their time together as the happiest of her life.
