Obituary

Vonnie (Meredith) Taylor passed away unexpectedly from stomach issues at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Thursday December 28, 2023.

Vonnie was born May 13, 1950, in Tulsa, OK to Nellie (Sammy) Hill (Meredith) and L.O. (Shorty) Hill who are both deceased.

Vonnie grew up in Mid-town Tulsa and graduated from Union High School.

She married Doug Bitsko and raised two children, John, and Christy. Over the years Vonnie worked for Cains Coffee as a telephone operator; The Adams Mark Hotel in downtown Tulsa, as a bartender, where she knew many of the lawyers, judges, and local crowd; The Red Pepper Chili Parlor, just to name of few of the old Tulsa establishments.

After her divorce, Vonnie left Tulsa and moved up to Grand Lake, OK. She worked for Butler Real Estate, Grand Lake Chronicles, and Moonies Sunset Bar & Grill. It was at Grand Lake where she met Steve Taylor. Steve and Vonnie dated, and were married on Valentines Day February 14th, 2006, in Reno, NV.

If you knew Vonnie, you knew her love for music. Perhaps this began from her closeness to her older brother, Eddie Everitt, a Tulsan Musician who went on to perform with Charlie Daniels Band. She loved music, all kinds, all genres. The arts, music, family, friends, animals, and smiles made up Vonnie's personality & her happiness.

We will all agree when we say Vonnie never met a person that did not love her. She was just that kind of gal. She created friendships that would last a lifetime. For these qualities and more, Vonnie will be missed forever.

Vonnie is survived by her husband Steve Taylor, son John Bitsko, daughter Christy Wright. Her grandkids include Shay-Lynn Bitsko, Colin Wright, Sterling Wright, Ella Bitsko and Great Grandson Daniel, son of Shay-Lynn.

The services will be held at the First Christian Church, Langley OK, on Wednesday January 10th, 2024, at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to First Christian Church of Langley. They provide so many resources to our community, including their Backpack Program for kids in need.
