IN LOVING MEMORY OF
April
Smith
April 6, 1962 – March 11, 2026
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, and raised in Oskaloosa, Kansas, April's life was defined by her devotion to those she loved and the places she called home. Following her marriage to Johnny, the couple established their homestead outside of Mildred, Kansas. Throughout their years together, April and Johnny lived across Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, eventually returning to Oklahoma to be near their cherished grandchildren.
A dedicated student, April earned her Associate of Arts degree from Allen County Community College (1989–1993), graduating with a distinguished 3.83 GPA. Her professional life was marked by a similarly impressive work ethic. During her tenure at Select Quote, her commitment and leadership led to rapid promotions and the deep respect of her colleagues. In 2025, she received the prestigious President's Club award, an honor that included a celebratory trip to the Cayman Islands.
Beyond her professional achievements, April found her greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life: the warmth of the sun, afternoons by her pool, and trips to the beach. She was an unwavering supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, rarely missing a game. Whether she was hosting a Super Bowl party, attending a parade, or enjoying a concert, April lived with a festive spirit, celebrating every possible moment with those closest to her.
April was the "glue" of her family—a strong, wise, and supportive presence who gave boundlessly of herself. She held her husband, children, grandchildren, and siblings close to her heart, leaving behind a legacy of strength and conviction that will inspire generations to come. Though she maintained a small, intimate circle, her love was vast, and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
