Arvil L. 'Al' Powell, 81, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012, in Tulsa, OK.Born January 18, 1931, in Gracemont, OK. to George W. and Eva P. Powell. Retired Publisher. Al served in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne, 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment and the 82nd Airborne. In the U.S. Navy, he served aboard the USS Eldorado. He was a recipient of the Silver Star for valor and gallantry in action during the Korean War. After his retirement, Al enjoyed working for Jenks Public Schools Transportation Department. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis A. Hockenson Powell; his children, Mary Powell of Wichita, KS, Randy Powell and his wife Patty of Wichita, KS, Alison Eagleton and her husband John of Tulsa, OK, and Jarrett Powell and his wife Michelle of Collinsville, OK. He was blessed with eleven grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Private family services will be held. Condolences may be sent through the guestbook on this page.
