Barry Leon McManus was born November 27, 1950 in Bixby, Oklahoma to Vernon and Martha Lena McManus. Barry was born on the homestead in Bixby and had many brothers and sisters. He began working a very early age. In fact, his Social Security Statement dates back to age 8 when he first started contributing. Even from age 8 he had a good work ethic and knew the value of a dollar. Barry continued that work ethic his entire life and was one of the most hardworking men that you would ever meet. He set a high standard and didnt care much for slackers but would never ask a person to do anything he wasnt willing to do himself. Barry met Jackie about 14 years ago. Their friendship blossomed into 12 years of wonderful marriage. He treated Jackie like a queen and there was nothing that he wouldnt do for her. They were truly best friends living their lives together. In fact, you would rarely see one without the other, they were inseparable. He was also a devoted son-in-law and simply adored Jackies mom. Barry was a good man. He wasnt without fault, but none of us are. He had absolutely no fear of death. In fact, he was looking forward to seeing the Glory of what awaited him on the other side. He knew where he was going and he was looking forward to being able to rest from his many years of labor. Barry is survived by his wife and best friend, Jackie Hunt McManus; children, Robert "Bob" Hunt, Tanna Rowan Trevor McManus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Allen Martha Lena McManus whom he deeply loved. Barry served in the US Army in the Vietnam War. He was a true patriot and loved his country.
