Bettie (Pulliam) Deaton Bettie (Pulliam) Deaton went to be with her beloved husband on the evening of Thursday, December 12, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bettie was born on May 12th 1931 to Ben and Ada Pulliam of Seminole, Oklahoma. Bettie grew up in the oil fields around the Seminole area. Her father worked for Gulf Oil. She was one of eight children. While working in Seminole at the drug store in the candy department she met her future husband Gene Deaton. He bought candy from her and asked his friends about her which ultimately lead to a blind date. It was love at first sight and they were happily married for 60 years. In the early 60s she served as both mother and father to her two children as her husband Gene was on 24-hour call working the missile sites in Kansas. As a result, she recieved a commendation for her service from The Department of Defense. In 1963 the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Once her family was raised Bettie went to work in retail where she sold luggage and travel accessories. Bettie worked in this industry for 20 years and retired from Bag and Baggage. Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Ada Pulliam, her husband, Gene G. Deaton, her brothers, Benny, Johnny and Kenneth "Dunk", her sisters, Artie, Christine and Bertie. She is survived by one brother, L.O. "Cotton" Pulliam, her son, Garry Deaton and his wife, Robin, her daughter, Deborah Yeates and her husband, Brian, one grandson, Ty Yeates, the second love of her life, YorkiePoo Shane, and many other relatives and friends.
