Bill was born on January 10, 1943 in Manchester, IA to J.P. and Kay Welch. He passed away on May 28, 2018 surrounded by his family. The family moved to Houston, TX when he was young and he graduated from Waltrip High School in 1961. After high school, he attended the University of Houston to play football. He earned a degree in Commercial Art and went to work for NASA after he graduated. In 1968 he was drafted into the Army and served 15 months in Vietnam. He was awarded an ARCOM, a Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman�s Badge, Vietnam Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal, and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He retired from Oklahoma State University � Okmulgee in 2001. Bill loved all sports. Being from Houston, he especially loved the Houston Oilers and Houston Astros. He was also an avid golfer. He loved to play a few rounds each week and continued to do so until his health declined. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Susie, daughter Melissa Lytle and her husband Rick, grandsons Jordan and Trent Lytle, sister Sandra McDonald, nieces Teri Wolff and Patty McDonald, father in law Paul Warne, his beloved dachshunds Miley and Maggie and a host of many other relatives. A celebration of life will be held on July 21, 2018 at 6:00pm at the home of Rick and Melissa Lytle.
