BILLY DAN STOUT, 79, of Owasso died Tuesday, August 7, 2012. He was born in Locust Grove, OK on July 16, 1933 to Homer and Eva Pearl Stout. Bill graduated high school in Locust Grove in 1950. He joined the Navy after high school where he served four years, partly during the Korean War. He served on the destroyer U.S.S. Jenkins during that time as a radar operator in the Pacific fleet. Upon his discharge from the military, he entered school at the University of Tulsa, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in History. He taught history and geography in the Tulsa Public School system. Bill also previously worked at North American Aviation in Tulsa. He later joined the National Park Service in 1968 and served as an Historian and law enforcement officer at several national battlefield locations throughout the country. He retired in 1998. Bill married Helen King in 1960. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in 2011. She survives him, along with their son Brent Stout, of Owasso and a grandson, Brennan Daniel Stout. Bill was an avid reader, gardener and loved the outdoors. He was a caring and loving husband, father and Granddad. He was preceded in death by his two parents and two sisters. Bill's gentle and kind nature, soft spoken manner, and wonderful sense of humor will not be forgotten by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. A private service will be held at a later date.
