Obituary

Bobbie Ann Corcoran was born Barbara Anastasia Brown in Oklahoma City on August 24, 1940, to Barbara and Larry Brown. Their youngest child of three and only daughter, she attended Catholic and Oklahoma City Public Schools, graduating from Northwest Classen High School in 1958. At a beer joint in Oklahoma City in 1961 she met the love of her life, Hubert G. ("Hugh") Corcoran, and they were married on March 11, 1962. To that union two daughters were born, Stephanie Diane (Steffie) in December 1962 and Kelley Suzanne in August 1964. Bobbie worked for many years as bookkeeper for her eldest brother Larry's interior design store, Decorating, Inc., on NW 10th Street in Oklahoma City and later helped launch a new venture, Designers Three, in Nichols Hills. She loved New Orleans and all things Deep South, travel, horse-racing, slot machines, professional golf, her grandchildren Derrick and Grace, her daughters and their dogs, and most of all Hugh Corcoran. Their nearly 60-year marriage had its ups and downs, but there was no denying their powerful, sometimes volatile but enduring love. She was the sun to his moon, the yin to his yang, the Type A to his go with the flow. In the final days of her life, Bobbie's last words and concerns were for her husband. Bobbie was a remarkable woman with a mind like a steel trap and a head for details that, well into her late 70s, eclipsed others' more subjective memories. Her daughters often said she was capable of leading a small country, and indeed there were several whose GDP and politics would have stabilized under her incredible organizational skills, intelligence, and executive skills. She was a fantastic cook, a fierce Yahtzee player, and a force to be reckoned with. Bobbie is survived by her husband, Hugh, of Broken Arrow; her daughters Steffie Corcoran of Yukon and Kelley Bryan of Tulsa; her son-in-law Dr. Vincent Bryan and adult grandchildren Derrick Bryan and Grace Bryan, all of Tulsa. She and Hugh were loving, devoted, and sometimes crazy "Grammy" and "Paw-Paw" to their grandchildren, and the names stuck even with their daughters and son-in-law. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the incredible team members at Brookdale Broken Arrow, where she spent her final months loved, cared for, and understood. Though we are grateful she is no longer in pain and is at long last at peace, there will be a giant void in our universe. She will be sorely missed.
