She is survived by her brother Severs Wood of Tulsa and wife JoAnn, Linda Waters (Wood) of Ft. Gibson, nephew Neil Montgomery, nieces Krishna Lea Hoff and Jamie Montgomery Mungai, great-nephews Morrison Nichols, Tucker Mastin, Payden Kilgore, Landen Kilgore, Derrik Kelley, Taron Stevenson, and Aidan Montgomery, great-nieces Savana Granger (Kilgore), Mazzy Waters and Grace Mungai, great-great nieces and nephews Adriel, Noah, Olivia and Ella.

Bobbie loved her friends and was lucky to have lasting friendships. Luck didn’t really play a part because Bobbie would make sure you knew she cared for you and you could count on her for that yearly, monthly, weekly or daily phone call. Her best of friends was her special friend John (J.B.) and her home helper turned good friend Tamara. Bobbie Sue loved her friends and family dearly. She was a family historian and was proud of the musical background her family shares. She loved her music. Bobbie played piano by ear and could play any song she heard. Her favorites were the radio tunes of the 60’s and 70’s, anything from Patsy Cline to Simon and Garfunkel and of course church hymns and praise music. She never stopped playing piano or learning new songs and wrote a few songs herself.

Bobbie never married or had children herself but when the babies started to be born, Bobbie Sue never missed a family gathering or a chance to send a card or a homemade poem or piece of art. She bought toys and clothes. She was creative and loved to “do for” her family. The holidays were her favorite because she loved getting together to share stories and listen to her family play music. Her younger years were filled with the music of her father and then older brother and cousins. Music was always a part of her life and she never remembered not knowing some songs. She played piano and sang in church in her younger days and we all remember the days of the ceiling fan videos on Youtube where Bobbie plays her song with the camera pointed at the ceiling fan!

Bobbie attended college at Northeastern State University, where she earned a teaching degree in elementary education. She taught several years in Poteau and some other country schools before deciding she wanted a change. Bobbie started looking for positions on the East Coast close to her brother John Wesley. She left Oklahoma and went to work as a nanny in New Jersey. Although this sounds exciting, Bobbie said her most excitement was when her car got swept away in a flash flood and a creek she was crossing flooded suddenly, carrying her car toward the river. She had to crawl through the window and swim to the shore and hold on while she watched her car being swept away.

Bobbie retired from Metlife in Tulsa.
