Obituary

Brad Baxter, age 58, died early Monday morning, 27 February, 2012, in Tulsa. His family grieves for him. His children-- Bren Baxter, Trevor Baxter, Zachary Baxter, and Irissa Baxterare gathering together and finding strength in each other. His two granddaughters have been helping tremendously, giving extra hugs to those who need them. Painfully, his two grandsons will never know him. Brad loved nothing more than his family, but his work came a clear second. BAXSYS, the telecommunications design firm he founded in 1988, supported his family and gave him the opportunity to focus his genius and to stretch his creative and technical mind without the constraints of corporate culture. He worked long and hard. He was an artist at his work, known for his technical innovation and honesty. Already he is deeply missed by his family, friends and business associates. Brad loved his dogs, especially his favorite Loki, the cats who congregated at his chair at night, and his other 'livestock.' He loved good food, finely cooked, coffees and teas, Negro Modelo. He loved woodworking, working with clocks, reading, and politics (as a flaming liberal). He appreciated art, high and low, and was fairly sure there was no difference between the two. He loved the Big Lebowski, Radiohead, Raising Arizona, and The White Stripes. He loved white water canoeing, and the woods, Taos, Ely, and Bissett, Canada, where in his personal good ole days he took 'scouties' on wilderness canoe trips for weeks at a time. His earth-centered spirituality path gave him much comfort. He thought of his children constantly and of how well they were doing, how much he loved them, how he missed them now that they are all flown from the nest. They meant everything to him.
