Memorial services will be held at 4:00pm, Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Heritage Park Golf Course Clubhouse in Olathe, Kansas. Carl Eugene Seaton, 84, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away October 28, 2016. He was born February 24, 1932 in Lyons, Kansas to Walter and Dorothy Seaton. He married his high school sweetheart, Verna Lee Bast, on November 2, 1951 and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. After his return, he and Vernie began raising their family of three daughters in Hutchinson, KS. With his sights set on owning his own business someday, he chose a career in the trucking industry. Working first at Rock Island Freight, he was able to realize his dream when he purchased Ottawa Transfer Storage in 1962. He relocated his business from Ottawa to Olathe, KS in 1969 and became an agent for United Van Lines, eventually serving on the Board of Directors for ten years. Carl was very active in civic activities, including Rotary, Toastmasters, Jaycees, The Boy Scouts of America, Heart to Heart International, United Way, Salvation Army, and the Olathe Medical Center. He was named Olathe Citizen of the Year in 1985. Carl and Vernie were named Corporate Citizens of the Year in 1992. They enjoyed social activities with their friends at the First United Methodist Church. He sang tenor in a Barbershop Quartet and church choir. He loved traveling and treasured his experiences on multiple trips to Jerusalem. Together their leisure time was spent taking drives in the country, reading, and camping by lakes. Octoberfests every fall were a favorite pastime. They attended many walking events sponsored by VolksMarch, and Carl walked 1500 miles in over ten states. For a time, they enjoyed trips in their RV with their dog, Daisy. He retired in 2009 and lived at University Village Retirement Community in Tulsa, OK where he made numerous friends and shared his slides and stories of Israel. He and his best friend, Lois Meyer, enjoyed many hours of sharing over books and Scripture. Carl traveled to visit his extended family as often as he could. He is preceded in death by wife, Verna Lee Bast Seaton, son-in-law, Randy Dillon, great granddaughter, Lilo Dillon. Brothers-in-law, Howard Marshall and Gary Crawford. Carl is survived by his daughters and families: Julie and Kenneth Miller, Benjamin Miller (Yulie Urano), Ana Miller (Steve Cudeck). Marla Dillon, Jessie and Jen Dillon, Mikayla, Tyler; Lonnie and Christina Dillon, Courtney, Trenton, Kaden, Anmarie; Steve and Miranda Dillon, Leighton, Abram. Lori and Allen Thrasher, Matt and Melissa Thrasher, Lucas, Addie; Kelly and Chad Mazurek, Cameron, Hailey. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Leon and Roberta Seaton, Norman and Sharon Seaton; sisters: Marge Marshall, Pat Crawford; numerous neices and nephews; special friend, Lois Meyer.
