Carol Joan Delap Lambert, 71, died peacefully on August 20, 2026, after a long illness. She was born on June 21, 1955, at Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
She grew up in Dewey, Oklahoma, where she attended Lincoln Elementary School and Dewey Junior and Senior High School, graduating in 1973. After graduation, she briefly attended Oklahoma State University before leaving school to begin her working career.
Carol began working at Jane Phillips Medical Center in 1974 and remained there until her retirement in 2021. She started in Accounting doing data entry and worked her way up to Application Support Specialist in Information Technology. Following retirement, she volunteered at Iron Gate and in the garden and market at Catholic Charities.
In 1998, Carol moved to Tulsa and was officed in the St. John IT department. It was there that she met her future husband, Paul.
Carol had a deep interest in plants and nature. Encouraged by Paul, she attended Tulsa Community College, where she earned an associate degree in horticulture in 2009. She was a member of the Tulsa Perennial Club for several years and served as its president.
Carol was active in her local parish church, where she sang in the choir and regularly attended the Thursday Bible study group. She served as a substitute pianist when needed at churches around town.
Carol is survived by her husband, Paul Lambert; her two sisters, Anne Shalaby of Cairo, Egypt, and Jane Hawes of Edmond, Oklahoma; her two nieces, Nada Shalaby of Berkeley, California, and Ranya Shalaby of Cairo, Egypt; and her great-nieces, Lara and Neptune.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert A. Delap, and her parents, Joseph A. and Ella L. Speedlin Delap.
