Charles, a US Navy veteran, was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was placed with his parents, Charles Blum and Dorothy (Nester) Apperson, in September 1941. Charles attended Marquette Grade and High School for 11 years graduating from Edison High School in 1959. Charles started playing baseball in the Brookside Youth Athletic Association summer programs. His schoolmates say he was a "natural". Charles lettered 4 years in baseball, and 3 years in basketball and football while at Marquette. He received a college scholarship to OU for baseball. In 1969 he was responsible for starting the little league F.O.R. Club (Future Owasso Rams) in Owasso. He continued participating in youth and junior programs all his life. He played for Tri-State Insurance sponsored programs competing in state, regional and world championships in the Babe Ruth and Connie Mack Leagues. He was also an avid bowler, Rose Bowl was his main alley along with Sheridan Lanes. He is preceded in death by his parents and his Aunt, Helen Murray; Uncles, Gene and Harry Nester; grandson, Hance Henrie. He is survived by his sister, Molly and his children, Charles Hogue "Charlie" Apperson, Teri Word, Joe Henrie, Danny Henrie, Rick Henrie and Andy Fieker along with their husband and wives; grandchildren, Hoguen, Harley and Hannah Apperson, Brad and Aaron Potter, Parker and Joe Dale Henrie, Chapman Henrie, Calvin Henrie, Hunter and Danielle Henrie; cousins, Helen Howerton, Phyllis Rodgers and Shirley Boxer; former wives and friends, Nancy Teal and Charlotte Fieker. A memorial service will be held 2:00pm, Thursday, July 17, 2014 in the Chapel at Calvary Cemetery. Please make memorial donations to the Oklahoma League for the Blind, 501 N.
