Charles Sherman (Chuck) Bates was born March 8, 1944, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He died March 1, 2013, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, at the age of 68. Chuck was born to Ivaughn and Naomi Bates in Tulsa. Later the family moved to Warner, he then graduated from Del City High School. He married and had two children: Michael and Jodi. Later Chuck started working at Tennessee Valley Authority, moving to Texas, then back to Oklahoma where he retired. He married Joy (Jones) Moffitt and settled in Sand Springs. Chuck was a gifted, generous, and thoughtful guy. His dry sense of humor always brought a smile to everyones face. He longed for a warm day to play golf and enjoyed making bird houses for friends and family. He is survived by his wife Joy Bates, son Michael Bates, and daughter Jodi McArthur; Step-daughters Sherry Grigsby and Stacy Riddle; grandchildren Logan and Darien McArthur, Bradley and Amanda Frazier, Rachael Allison, Lucas Riddle; and sister Lavonda Norrod.
