Charles William "Bill" Dickson, transitioned to his heavenly home on April 6, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimers. Bill was born July 30, 1934 in Escatawpa, Mississippi and reared in nearby Moss Point. He was the youngest child of Thomas Jackson Dickson, Jr. and the former Mabel Money Phillips. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Thomas Jackson Dickson, III, Richard Phillip Dickson and his sister Lois Elaine Crumbaugh. Bill served two years in the Army before relocating to Tulsa, OK in 1957 where he attended the University of Tulsa. In 1958 he met and married the former Shirley Ann Noles. Bill retired from the Newspaper Printing Corporation after over 25 years of service as a Circulation District Manager. During that time, he also worked many years with OK Fireworks Corporation and Southwest Nursery. Bill and Shirley were very active with the Builders Class at First United Methodist Church in Tulsa and for many years volunteered with the Wishard Lemons Run. At the time of his death, Bill had celebrated almost 32 years of sobriety and was very active with his local Alcoholics Anonymous, Original Westside group. Bill loved sports and played fast and slow pitch softball and racquetball for many years. In addition to his devoted wife, Shirley, Bill is survived by his children, Melinda Dickson of Tulsa and Lt. Colonel William Dickson, D.D.S. and his wife Lt. Colonel Peggy Dickson, D.D.S. of the United States Air Force; his three grandchildren Heather Duncan and Denver of Oklahoma City; Seth Dickson and Alexandra of Washington D.C. and Mia Dickson of Tulsa; and his three great grandchildren Daxx , Zadie and Dutch Duncan. Bill was a loving, fun and generous man as well as a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. Bill is greatly missed by his friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the National Alzheimers Association, Oklahoma Chapter, 2448 E. 81 st, Suite 3000, Tulsa, OK 74137. A Celebration of Life will be held at First United Methodist Church at 1115 S. Boulder on April 14, 2014 at 10:30 a.m.
