Obituary

Charlie Coty Smith, 73, passed away unexpectedly during recovery from Heart surgery at Northeastern Tahlequah Hospital on March 7, 2025, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

He was born on February 1, 1952, in Weleetka, Oklahoma, to parents Seth and Maria (Pope) Smith. Charlie was born, raised, and settled in Oklahoma, where he built a life full of love, hard work, and cherished memories.

A dedicated painter by trade, Charlie took great pride in his work. He leaves behind his skills as a painter on several church's in Oklahoma. He started his family at a young age and worked tirelessly to provide for them. His strong work ethic and commitment to his loved ones defined much of his life. During his retirement years, he was enjoying spending time with his companion Paula Falconer Arriaga in the country of their Tahlequah home.

Charlie found immense joy in spending time with his family. He enjoyed every moment shared with his son, grandson, and family. Whether casting a line on a fishing trip, relaxing by a campfire, or exploring antique shops, Charlie found happiness in life's simple pleasures. Some of his most treasured memories were made at Briar Creek in Tamaha, where he found peace and connection with those he loved most.

Charlie will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His warm spirit, dedication, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
