Constance (Connie) Newman Dailey was born in North Platte, Nebraska on October 8, 1935 to Morrill Shaner and Mary Keiser Shaner. She grew up in Hominy, Oklahoma and graduated from Hominy High School in 1953. She graduated from Northeastern State University in 1956 With a B.S. in education. In 1986, she earned her M.S. in education from N.S.U. Connie married J. Everett Newman in Denver, Colorado in 1958. She taught first grade in Denver while Everett was in law school at Denver University. She resigned to have their three children, Amy Lynn, Jeffrey Everett and Matthew Shane. Everett died of cancer in 1969. Connie moved to Tulsa in 1973 to be close to family and teach school until she retired from Tulsa Public Schools in 1992. She loved teaching six year olds to read. Connie married George Dailey in 1996. He was an old schoolmate with whom she became reacquainted at a high school reunion, as a bonus in this marriage she gained some new children; Amy, Elizabeth, Richard and Geoff Dailey. She was blessed with many grandchildren and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband George. She loved to travel, read, dance and quilt. She especially loved Asbury United Methodist Church and was a founding member of the Disciples Community. She also belonged to UMW and The Salvation Army Auxiliary and Restore Hope. She was a hillcrest volunteer for twelve years. She felt volunteering was a way to give back to the community. Contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, Restore Hope, or a charity of your choice. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Fleming Center at Oklahoma Methodist Manor, 4134 East 31st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
