Cynthia Carol Browne (née Rolland) was born in January of 1950. She was the first child of Cecil and Virginia Rolland, and sister of Cecelia Rolland and brother Willie Rolland. She lived in Tulsa for most of her life, attending Dunbar Elementary and graduating proudly from Central High School in the class of 1968. She went on to attend college at Oklahoma State University where she met and married Samuel Jacob Browne, an exchange student from Monrovia, Liberia. From their union, they had two children: Kuma Ann and Jacob Coyama Browne.
Cynthia lived a life of service to others. She was a life-long member of Morning Star Baptist Church where she excelled in many capacities: Sunday School teacher, Usher Board, member and past President of the M.L. Sudduth Circle, and her beloved Culinary Committee where she loved to prepare and serve food to the members of her church during their times of joy and sorrow.
To further demonstrate her servant's heart, she worked as an LPN at St. John's Hospital for 31 years. She spent many of those years working in the Cath Lab where she made lifelong friends. In her retirement, she volunteered at the Iron Gate serving the less fortunate alongside her granddaughter Komari whenever possible. In addition, she was the long-term caregiver for her dear friend and sister in Christ, Mrs. Juanita Sudduth Wilson, for nearly a decade, seeing to her daily needs as an honorary member of her family.
She is survived by her daughter Kuma and her husband Floyd, her son Jacob and his wife Mary Heather, her sister Cecelia Rolland, step-brother Willie Rolland, her aunt El Reno O'Neal, a host of loving cousins, and her most treasured grandchildren: Komari Simone Crisp, Ezekiel Bear Roberts, and Adisa Henry Browne. Her husband Samuel preceded her in death.
Cynthia was an elegant, regal, God-fearing, faith-filled woman who took pleasure in talking, listening to, counseling, and tending to others. She loved to visit new places, and to see and experience new things. Her wishes for us all would be to be kind to each other, love and enjoy our family and friends, and know God, who was the strength of her life and with whom she is now rejoicing. We will cherish her memory always.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any contributions in her honor be made to Iron Gate Tulsa.
Memorial services for Cynthia will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, at Morning Star.
