Dale Ray Gardner, age 66, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on April 10, 2013, at Inverness Village after a long battle with cancer. Dale was born May 8, 1946, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, to his parents Edward Dale Gardner and Dahlia Faye Gardner, both preceding him in death. Dale grew up in the state of Washington, graduated from Dewey High School, Dewey, Oklahoma and received his BA in history from Southern Illinois University. His MA in history was from St. Marys University (San Antonio) and he received his JD from the University of Tulsa. Dale retired from the private practice of law in October 2005, and from the US Army in December 1999. He served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. On December 27, 1969, he married the love of his life, Phyllis Weinschrott Gardner. They have lived in various parts of the country and retired to a full life at Inverness Village. Dale enjoyed, travel, reading, camping and trout fishing. He was currently serving as President of the Sapulpa Historical Society and on the Board of Directors for Inverness. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Gardner, sister Ann Ervin, brother Steve Allen Gardner (Becky), nephew Geoffrey Gardner (Julie) and their two sons, Chas and Will, and niece Valerie Gardner. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Helen Weinschrott, and two sisters-in-law. Additionally, he is survived by his dearest friends, David and Brandy Madden and Tina Bridgewater and her family. A Memorial Service is planned for 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church of Sapulpa. Condolences may be sent through the guest book on this page.
