Obituary

Daniel Macrum Barton, age 86, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2014 surrounded by his family. Daniel was born on February 25, 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and moved to Summit, New Jersey when he was a young boy. He graduated from Summit High School and the University of Pennsylvania. While attending a tea dance at his fraternity house in Philadelphia, he met Patricia, the love of his life. This past May they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. After graduation, Daniel enlisted in the Air Force and served in Japan during the Korean War. After the war, he worked for Getty Oil Company in New York City. In 1977, after Gettys merger with Skelly oil Company, he moved his family to Tulsa, Oklahoma, coming full circle back to his birthplace. He worked for Getty for 28 years, retiring in 1986. Daniel was a member of St. Dunstans Episcopal Church, making lifelong friends while celebrating his faith quietly. He believed in giving back to the community, without ever wanting any accolades for his volunteer work. For years, he picked up food that was going to be thrown away from neighborhood grocery stores and delivered it to the Salvation Army. He was also a volunteer poll worker. A passionate Dodger fan, a perfect day for Daniel would be with family and friends at a baseball game, keeping score on his own scorecard, eating ice cream and singing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game." Daniel is survived by his wife Patricia; his children, Daniel, Jr. and his wife Anne; Andrew and his wife Pauline; Charles and his wife Jean; and Judith and her husband Jose Orihuela; grandchildren Daniel, Joshua, Timothy, Rachael, Deborah, John, Carolyn, Jennifer, Dylan, Ciaran, Claire" and Thomas; and 13 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 6, 2014 at St. Dunstans Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the American Diabetes Association. Service: 09/06/2014 00:00 3:00pm St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church 5635 E. 71st St. Tulsa, Oklahoma 74136
