We celebrate the memory of David James Maher who passed away on May 3, 2018. With his passing we lost a father, grandfather, husband, neighbor, parishioner, artist, businessman and polio survivor. He is survived by his wife Mary Louise (Maxey) Maher, his three children Kem (Maher) Hagadorn (husband Dave), Jamie Maher and Patrick Maher, and his two grandchildren Kiernan Maher and Aidan Maher. Dave was born in Tulsa on November 14, 1926 to parents Jim and Myrtle (McCorkle) Maher, being one of the first-year babies born at the new St. John Hospital. After graduating from Tulsas Central High School in 1944 he proceeded to Coast Guard service and then on to the University of Tulsa where he graduated in 1949. Dave was a prolific painter with gallery shows in Tulsa, Santa Fe and Taos even including works in a multi-artist showing at Philbrook Museum in the late 50s. Dave had an independent streak that drove him to start his own business in 1963, what would transition to become Dave Maher and Associates, a company that is still thriving 55 years later. And in the end, it was the love of his wife that would always bring a smile to his face. He remained a romantic, an artist at heart. Dave Maher/Dad/Grandpa Dave, you will be missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be extended to the Dave and Louise Maher Endowed Scholarship at Oklahoma State University Foundation, OSUF #20-41050, 400 S Monroe, Stillwater, OK 74074 or to the Adopt a Student Scholarship fund at Tulsas Marquette Catholic School, 1520 S Rockford, Tulsa, OK 74120. Please join the family for a reception to follow immediately after the mass in the churchs Fletcher Hall (just north of the sanctuary (north being towards 15th Street)).
