David Edward Stewart, 87 years, passed away on March 29, 2024. The youngest child of Charles Arthur Stewart and Ruby Julia Townsley, David was born in Claremore, OK on October 24,1936.
David received most of his education in Claremore schools before moving to Tulsa and graduating from Central High School in 1954. After finishing high school, David married the love of his life, Mary Irene Davis, with whom he would enjoy 65 years of married life until her passing in 2020. The couple raised two sons together, Douglas Wayne and Dean Wallace.
As a young man, David served in the United States Marine Corps and USMC Reserves. Outside of his military service, David spent his early career as a bookkeeper then accountant for Sunray DX in Tulsa, OK and Midland, TX. And aside from a brief but rewarding interval period working as an electrician's helper alongside his brother-in-law, Gene Holleman, David spent the rest of his working years as a tax accountant for Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO).
Beyond his greatest joy, his family, David found meaning and enrichment from fishing, gardening, antiquing, reading, and listening to music.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Irene Stewart, his parents, his elder siblings, Jimmie R. Stewart and Judith Corrine Holleman, his younger son, Dean Wallace Stewart, and one grandson, Bennett Stewart.
He is survived by his elder son, Douglas Wayne Stewart and his wife, Lori Stewart. David additionally leaves behind six grandchildren: Samuel Jefferson Stewart, Maxwell Scott Stewart, Tyler Warren Stewart, Mary Grace Stewart, Jackson Brent Stewart, and Sophia Elizabeth Stewart. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Dean Hudson Stewart, Ruby James Stewart, and Andrew Bluejay Firey.
David will be remembered warmly for his steady and serene nature, generosity, and the kindness and respect he gave to everyone blessed to know him.
