Dean Anderson, age 78, passed away on November 29, 2012 in Coweta, Oklahoma. Dean was born September 24, 1934 in Emporia, Kansas to Gilbert E. Anderson and Nina (Haley) Anderson. Dean worked many years at IGA stores around Oklahoma. He would go in and set up the new stores, make sure everything was running smoothly then move his family to the next location. But Dean's passion was in racing. However, instead of just watching the cars race, he wanted to be the one driving the race car, and usually was. In fact, Dean drove many times in his younger years on the short tracks. Kelly remembers the family driving to the track and the 'family car' they drove there was soon transformed with a new engine installed, and raced on the track that day, and then transformed back to the 'family car' to drive home in. Even in his older age, if his children thought they might give him a scare driving too fast, it was not fast enough for Dean. He would just laugh and grin with delight as they travelled in excess of 100 miles per hour. Dean's family knew of his love for Bridgemix. If you didn't know, you would soon because if you got caught eating his Bridgemix, he was going to tell you about it! In his older years, Dean's room was like a candy store. LaWanda's daughter Jennifer would go in to visit Dean in his room and invariably come out with some kind of candy. They both loved their candy! Dean is survived by; his four children, Kevin, Kelly Anderson wife LaWanda, Kandra Smith husband Richard, and Kortney Thatcher; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Gene Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog Korkie.
