Obituary

With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of DeAnna Lee Thomas, 67, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, who died peacefully in her home, surrounded by loved ones, on October 27th, 2026. A devoted wife and mother, a loving sister, and a treasured friend, she selflessly poured out her light and love upon everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. DeAnna’s family was the center of her universe, and the love she poured into them is a melody which will echo for generations to come. Encountering her was like encountering the embodiment of warmth and welcome, and she had the innate gift of making a person feel at ease, whether at the workplace, in church, or in her tidy home. She was a source of comfort to many who knew her, able to form meaningful and lasting connections with just about anyone who crossed her path. This ability to forge connections with others, in addition to her penchant for sharing a story or two, was a defining part of her spirit, and those who knew her best no doubt often measured her conversations in hours rather than minutes. No amount of time ever seemed too much to exhaust her desire to be with others.

A fearless fighter, DeAnna carried the cross of her ALS diagnosis with faith-filled courage, serving as an inspiring source of quiet strength for friends and family alike even in her most vulnerable moments, which she did not hesitate to share. One particular aspect of her character was a heart of love that cared for others even at her own expense, and this self sacrificing love gave shape to her entire life, even through her final days. She was a woman of deep faith, and her abiding trust in the goodness of God despite the difficulties of life’s journey served as a beacon of hope for many around her. Her life gave authentic witness to the fundamental call to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself.

There are many things for which DeAnna will be remembered. She was a lover of horses, a spirited storyteller, and a loyal friend. She had a hidden talent for art as well as a knack for languages. She had two energetic boxer dogs of whom she was especially fond. Perhaps more than what she will be remembered for, rather, is who she will be remembered by. She will be remembered by the many family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, parishioners, and the countless people whose lives were better simply for knowing her. She will be deeply missed.

The funeral for DeAnna Thomas will be held at Church of the Madalene in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday, Nov. 14th 2026 at 10:00am.
