Obituary

Dennis Lee Bergstrom was born in Waterloo, Iowa on November 6, 1943 and left this world on October 18, 2014. He was preceded in death by his father, Don Bergstrom and brother, David Bergstrom. He is survived by: his much loved mother, Ruth Brown; his son and best friend, Thad Bergstrom; special friend, Susie Brown; and his companion dog, Daisy. Dennis graduated from Cedar Falls High School and went to college at Iowa State University. He was a veteran who served his country as part of the Army National Guard. Dennis enjoyed his work as a teacher in Tulsa Public Schools where he taught both at Rogers High School in a shop/tech capacity and also Robertson Elementary in a special education class. After retirement, he was often greeted in public by former students who would share their success stories with "Mr. B" and credit his help and guidance in school for their results. Dennis was someone who loved traveling and experiencing new adventures. Most recently, he and Thad explored China on his "trip of a lifetime." Dennis enjoyed the sport of racing, both in his younger days when he was part of an Indy car racing team and later in life as a spectator. He found solace in nature and made frequent camping trips to various state parks with his beloved rescue dog, Roper. His gentle and giving nature was apparent by his openness to "adopt" those in need, from the student who needed guidance and acceptance to the friend who needed a kind word. His selfless role as a surrogate father/grandfather to eight year old Caden will live forever in the hearts of those who were witness to it. Dennis must be pleased to know that his legacy of friendship, love, and his outrageously funny sense of humor have left the world a better place for so many! A celebration of Denniss life is scheduled at the First Presbyterian Church in Sapulpa, 111 S. Oak Street on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations to the American Cancer Society; the Okmulgee Humane Society; or another charity of your choice. Service: 11/01/2014 00:00 2:00pm Sapulpa First Presbyterian Church 111 S. Oak St. Sapulpa, Oklahoma
