Don Charles Fisher, 85, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017, from complications of colon cancer. A native Tulsan, Charles was born February 14, 1932 to Mabel Audrey Burns and William Eugene Fisher. He leaves behind his lifelong sweetheart Lorelei June (Bergdorf) Fisher, daughter Lorna Fisher Acua, daughter Dr. Holly Fisher Britt and son-in-law Paul Britt, grandchildren Alonna McClung, Gabriel Acua, Anacarina Acua, Lorelei Acua, Chase Biggs, and Olivia Britt, and great-granddaughter Lily, as well as his sister Alice E. Nobbs. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Harold E. Fisher. "Mr. Fisher" retired from Tulsa Public Schools as a math teacher with service at several schools, including Foster and Gilcrease Junior High schools. An avid athlete, Charles attended Central High School, lettering in football and baseball and involved in wrestling and basketball. In 1950, Central won baseball State Championship with Charles as pitcher. He was awarded 1950 All State Pitcher and Most Valuable Player for the North-South All Star game. He served as a sergeant in the army, stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and earned a bachelors degree in mathematics from The University of Tulsa. Charlie loved keeping busy outdoors and made many friends through hobbies of golf, tennis, bicycling, tinkering with cars, growing vegetables, and mowing grass (often anonymously) for others. A natural mentor and teacher, Charles embodied fairness, kindness, teamwork, and competition. He had a keen sense of humor and was a fan of ice cold Dr. Pepper and thrift store bargain hunting. In lieu of services, the family encourages friends, colleagues, and acquaintances to join them in honoring Charles Fishers memory through an active gesture of kindness for someone else. Mow someones lawn, toss a football with the kid next door, or lend a tool or a hand to a neighbor. Memorial contributions can be made to Sertoma Eastside Emporium Thrift Shop, 1215 S.
