Donald Wayne Ivie: A life remembered on 23 Jan 2024, just 24 days short of his 79th birthday, a truly loved and cherished huband/father/grandpa and 'punka', Donald Wayne Ivie was called home to be with parents Loy and Velma Neece Ivie, and Waver Tolar Curtis, to prepare to receive us all to reunite and celebrate together in His glory! He was surrounded by his loving family and friends and will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear.
Born on February 16, 1945, Wayne grew up the oldest of his siblings first in Newcastle, Texas then in Arlington, Texas where he graduated from Arlington High School in 1964. As a Marine of the Vietnam Era, Wayne served proudly for 4 years an an Aircraft Plane Captain.
He is survived by his wife Holly Ivie and Mother-in-law Lora Quartuccio of the home, children: Raymond Ivie (Shana) of Spring, Texas, Brandon Ivie of Fort Worth, Texas, Jeremy Ivie of Tulsa, OK, Heather Carlson (David) of Fort Worth, Texas, Jessica Bradley of Tulsa, OK, and Bonus Daughters; Shannen Mitchell (Bobby) of Azle, Texas and Tracy Cummins (Todd) of Hempstead, Texas. Grandchildren: Kourtney Bullock (Paul), Travis Ivie, Morgan Ivie, Cody Farrar, Hannah Trejo (Jimmy), Mikey Holliman, Monte Holliman, Jackson Coleman, Hailey Farra, Mariah White, Orrin Coleman, Caryssa White, Taylor Carlson, Tucker Ivie, Kayden Carlson, Tully Ivie. Great-grandchildren: PR II and Alice Kinsey. Siblings: Carol Ayres of Albany, GA, Joe York of Tanner, AL, Becky Dybvig (Kenneth) of Burleson, Texas, Diana Richey of Fort Worth, Texas, Donna Brannen of Fairhope, AL, Brothers-in-law Tim Spratt (Tita) of Mexico, Jon Spratt (Darlene) of Owasso, OK, Pat Spratt (Kim) of Broken Arrow, OK, and Sister-in-law Mary King (Brian) of Tulsa, OK. Along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends.
As a business partner along with Aaron Doughty and Scott Wilson at Indian Nation Fire Sprinkler since 2011 he shared his 40 plus years' experience and knowledge of the fire suppression industry.
Wayne loved spending time with the love of his life, Holly! If they weren't traveling to see any of their 20 grand kids, they were out making memories with friends or together creating adventures and enjoying life, especially in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!
Wayne was preceded in death by parents Loy and Velma Neece Ivie, Waver Tolar Curtis; brother Jimmy York; brother-in-law Fred Ayres.
A military graveside service will be held at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK on February 23rd, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at American Legion Post 308, located at 11328 E Admiral Place, Tulsa, OK. on February 24th, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., where family and friends will come together to honor his memory and share stories of the joy and happiness he brought to the world. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Wayne's name.
