Doris Elaine Karr passed peacefully at the age of 97 on April 10, 2017 at St. Johns Hospital after a brief stay. In keeping with her wishes, a private family gathering will be held in Midland, Texas. Doris is survived by her three children, Elaine McManus (Allen), Michael Karr (Jane) and Darryl Karr (Ann), seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Born on September 20, 1919 in Clearwater, NE to Stanley and Opal Okee. After graduating college at Chillicothe in Missouri, she worked in Chicago, IL and California, where she met the love of her life, Kenneth Wayne Karr, who passed away in 1991. Prior to the birth of her first child, Doris worked as the school secretary in Crane, Texas. She volunteered her time over the years in numerous charitable organizations, Hospice, and as a Pink Lady at several hospitals. She was a life-long member of Church of Christ. In her later years, Doris enjoyed the book club, arts crafts, and Mexican dominoes at Aberdeen Heights, reading, and crossword puzzles. A very special thanks goes out to everyone at Aberdeen Heights, as well as Dr. Sidney Lawler and the nurses at 5th Floor West that cared for her at St. Johns Hospital her last couple of days. Everyone that knew Doris loved her. A sweet sweet lady. She will be greatly missed.
