Obituary

Dorothy Fern (Oyer) Hopkins, 85, formerly of Northampton PA and Plum PA died June 15, 2013 at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Lucy Belle (Corley) Oyer. Her husband of 34 years, Joseph H. Hopkins died in 1987. Born in Sterling, Kansas, Dorothy graduated from Hutchison High School and continued her education at the University of Kansas, where she met and married her (late) husband, Joe. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Child Psychology in 1953. She was a loyal KU fan all of her life. ( Rock Chalk Jayhawk). Dorothy was the mother of nine children. She took an active role in the Girl Scouts and also volunteered for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, crocheting, embroidery, doll-making and genealogy research. She loved birdwatching, sunflowers and roses. She is survived by daughters: Martha (and husband Edward) Skarlinski of Cranberry Township PA; Barbara (and husband Richard) Danko of Connellsville PA; Mary of Cape May NJ. Her sons: Kenneth (and wife Debbie Jean) of Sacramento CA; Edward (and wife Melanie) of Cary NC; Michael of Tulsa, OK; Charles (and wife Cheree) of Bethlehem Township, PA; Richard of Upper Allen Township, PA; Robert (and partner Michael) of Bethlehem PA. Her grandchildren: Jennifer (and husband Michael) Timmer of Oklahoma City OK; Anastassia (and husband Aaron) Lykins of Cornelius, NC; Alexandr Skarlinski of Baltimore MD; Amy Hopkins of Sacramento CA, Lauren Danko of Connellsville PA; Jamie Danko of Connellsville PA and Isabel Hopkins of Cary NC; her great-grandchildren: Nikolai, Natasha, David and Kylie. And her sister-in-law Patricia Oyer. She was preceded in death by a sister, Gwendolyn Dukelow, and brothers Delmar, Clinton, Kenneth and Lionel Oyer Services are pending.
