Obituary

Dorothy Ann Rosier was the third child born to Sadie and Ruby Rosier on September 22, 1920 in Garnett, Kansas. The middle child was her brother Gene, and the oldest her sister Marge. Dorothy graduated from Garnett High School in 1938. After earning a scholarship to Emporia State she graduated from that school in 1942 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. While there she was a member of what is now Delta Zeta sorority and played the trumpet in their marching band. After graduation she took a job in California and was a Physical Education instructor at Maricopa High School for three years before moving on to Huntington Beach HS, also as a Physical Education teacher. She was proud of initiating a synchronized swimming program and producing many water shows at that school. During this time she studied at the University of Southern California, Chapman College, and UC Irvine, earning her Master of Arts degree at Long Beach State in 1961. Eventually she moved on to Westminster HS in California, where she became a Counselor, remaining there until her retirement in 1976. During her retirement she enjoyed traveling in her motor home, playing cards, reading, casinos, and fishing. Eventually she moved to Brookings, Oregon, and in 1996 to Tulsa, Oklahoma to be closer to family. Dorothy passed away in Tulsa on July 12, 2013. She is survived by her nephew and his wife, a great nephew and niece, and two great-great nephews. Condolences may be sent through the guest book on this page.
