Douglas A. Downing, age 70, passed away on August 2, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong Tulsan, Doug was a graduate of the University of Tulsa and salesman at Renbergs Clothing Store and at John Daniel Footwear at Utica Square. A true patriot, Doug proudly served his country in Vietnam as a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Sharpshooter (Rifle), and Purple Heart Medal. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara J. Bowden, and many friends. Funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery this fall.
