Elizabeth "Liz" Marie Place of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully to join God in Heaven on January 11 2026. Born to Frank and Gloria Cooper in Toledo, Ohio on August 28 1960.
Elizabeth a 43 year resident of Tulsa devoted her time to her family and her career in hospitality and wellbeing as a cafeteria manager for Tulsa Public Schools, until she retired in 2023. Elizabeth was a dedicated and devoted wife to her soulmate and love of her life Joseph Place. She was a loving and dedicated mother to her 4 children, Christopher, Benjamin, Annette and Samantha. A loving grandmother "Mimi" to her 5 grandchildren, Jordan, Dylan, Hayden, Rae'lynn, and Ryon.
Liz made lifetime lasting friendships wherever she went, from her career beginnings in Tulsa at Ruby's Cafeteria, to her time as waitress and district area trainer at Waffle House to her final role was cafeteria manager at Tulsa Public Schools. Liz lived life to the fullest, and at two speeds fast and faster. Liz loved fiercely with passion and emotion, was lively, outgoing and loud, full of energy and her presence was always felt. She had strength, never wavered from a challenge, and never backed down to anyone or anything. She left lasting impressions on so many and lit up rooms when she entered. Most of all Liz was a fighter and had immense strength. She battled health issues late in life and even sent lung cancer to remission before her eternal sleep.
Liz is survived by her husband of 45 years, Joseph Place, and their sons and daughters and their families. First born, Christopher Place and his wife Angela with children Jordan, Dylan and Hayden. Second born son Benjamin. Third born, daughter, Annette Searle and her children Rae'lynn and Ryon. Her fourth born, daughter, Samantha. Liz will be forever missed, never forgotten, and celebrated always.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held from 11am to 2 pm on Sunday January 18th at 727 North Sheridan Rd, Tulsa, OK. If you would like to come and offer memories or support please do.
