Eva Gale Thompson passed away Friday, June 28, 2019, at the age of 78 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born August 1, 1940, Gale, as she preferred to be called, was the first child of Kenneth and Jean (Springer) Wilken. Between 1940 and 1956 the family lived different places in the Pacific Northwest and a short time in Alaska ultimately settling in the Springfield, Oregon area. Gale attended Springfield High School thru 1958. On December 22, 1959, Gale married Marine Corps Corporal, Bruce C Bailey. Their first home together was in San Clemente, California, followed by other military communities in Southern California between 1959 and 1975. Over the years Gale had 6 children. She returned to Oregon with her family in 1960-1961, 1965-1966, and 1969-1970 during Bruce's military deployments. Gale and her Mother became believers in the Lord Jesus Christ in 1961. In 1976 Gale remarried to Earl Thompson. The family continued to live in Southern California until 2000 at which time Earl and Gale retired to Spavinaw, Oklahoma. Gale was a gifted artist, enjoyed crafts, gardening, animals and nature, and shared these activities with her children. She was known to take simple gifts to shut-ins, invite those with no family to holiday gatherings, and care for stray animals. Gale was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Jean (Springer) Wilken, her younger brother, Keith Wilken, her grandson Bruce Sims and her husband, Earl Thompson. She is survived by her 6 children, 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Gale and Earl Thompson's ashes will become part of an Eternal Reef off the coast of Florida at a later date.
