Floyd Terry Diacon was born May 6, 1931, in Oklahoma City, to Floyd Wilmer Diacon and Ruth (Ranck) Diacon. He died on October 28, 2021, in Tulsa, OK, at the age of 90.
Terry graduated from Oklahoma A&M University in Stillwater in 1954. He joined Sigma Alpha Epsilon and the bonds of friendship with many of his fraternity brothers endured throughout his life. While at A&M, Terry met his future bride, Susan Kidd.
Terry accepted a position with Cities Service Oil Company before leaving for the Army. He and Susan married in Shreveport, LA, on September 22, 1954. After two years in the Army Corp of Engineers, he returned to Cities Service and began a 43-year career in the Refining, Industrial Relations, and Supply and Distribution Divisions with Cities Service and CITGO Petroleum.
Terry was loyal to his alma mater. You could find Terry on game days sporting OSU attire including, but not limited to, cap, shirt, belt, jacket, and rain poncho. Leaving the game early was never an option.
After retiring Terry volunteered with Green Country Habitat for Humanity's Tuesday Morning Miracle Workers. This group of retired men have built more than 80 homes for Habitat, assisted in the construction of others, and built cabinets for many of those. In total the Tuesday Morning Miracle Workers have had their fingerprint on 250 homes in the Tulsa area.
Terry was the very definition of a "people person," making friends everywhere and remembering all he met. He was a true gentleman: kind, polite, courteous and helpful.
Survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Carolyn Tobin (Charles); son, Jim Diacon (Mary); grandchildren, Abigail Diacon (Hart Dubberstein); Samuel Diacon (Bailey); and great-grandchild, Calvin Dubberstein.
The family is planning a private service and would enjoy reading your memories of Terry at the Cremation Services of Oklahoma website (tulsacremation.com). In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Terry's memory to the OSU Foundation CEAT Fund; the First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa where Terry served as Deacon, Elder and Trustee; Green Country Habitat for Humanity, or a charity of your choice.
