Frances Ann Marrs, better known as Francie, passed away on October 24, 2024, at the age of 73 in her hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on January 11, 1951, in Tulsa to Virginia "Prentiss" Wentz and Charles Melvin Wentz, Francie was a spirited and joyous presence in the lives of those around her.
Francie's educational journey began at Memorial High School and continued through her higher education at NSU where she earned a Master's degree in psychometry. Her career path was diverse and fulfilling, starting in special education, transitioning into a role as a marketing manager, and ultimately finding her calling in human resources, where she achieved her SHRM certification and thrived professionally.
Beyond her professional life, Francie was deeply invested in her personal relationships and hobbies. Her 30 year marriage to her beloved husband, Jim Marrs, was one of her greatest sources of joy. She was an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hiking, walking, and running. Francie enjoyed traveling and also explored china painting, a skill she inherited from her mother. Her vibrant, energetic personality made her a beloved figure, especially within her family.
She is survived by her brothers, Chuck and Kyle, along with Kyle's wife Dawn, nieces, Michele Burns and husband Greg, Tina Astorino and husband Paul, Jennifer Cook and husband James, and Amanda Lair and husband Jake, as well as nephews Robert Thrush Jr. "Robbie" and wife Marcela, Joseph Baker and wife Aralysa, Dylan Wentz and wife Somer, Gregory Wentz and a host of great nieces and nephews. Francie was preceded in death by her mother Virginia, her father Charles "Melvin", her sister Lauretta "Laurie" Sweeten, grandparents, multiple aunts and uncles, as well as her great-nephew Dalton James (DJ) Burns, and her beloved dog Bridget (aka Boo Boo).
A Memorial/Celebration of Life service will be held for Francie on November 9, 2024, at Hunter Park in Tulsa, OK. The Cremation Society of Oklahoma in Tulsa is assisting the family with arrangements.
Francie's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her passion for life, which she embraced wholeheartedly. She will be remembered fondly and missed deeply by all who knew her.
