Gene Thomas Starling, 85, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Gene was born November 26, 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to John and Ina Starling. Gene graduated from Daniel Webster High School on May 29, 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He entered the United States Navy on June 11, 1947, serving 5 years, 11 months, and 15 days until honorably discharged on May 26, 1953. He worked at Douglas Aircraft from 1953-1958, as a plumber 1959-1962, manager and bookkeeper for a service from 1962-1977 and Lockheed Aircraft from 1978-1993. Later working at Burtek Inc. until his retirement. Gene is preceded in death by his parents, John Selwin and Ina Jane Starling, one brother: Kenneth Leroy Starling; sister: Betty Frances Keys. Gene is survived by his daughters: Joy Manning (David), Diana Mattioda (Anthony); son: Jerry Wayne Starling; seven grandchildren: Elizabeth Manning Johnson, John David Manning, Brandie Starling Lordahl, Kelsi Starling, Nicholas Mattioda, Mitch Mattioda and Matthew Mattioda; ten great grandchildren; brothers John Starling Jr. (Anita), Dale Starling (Pat); sister: Margaret Tawater and numerous nieces and nephews.
