Gerald Loren 'Jerry' Hoover, age 75, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with his family by his side. Jerry was born in Browning, Illinois, May 27, 1937. He graduated from Hennepin High School, Hennepin, Illinois, in 1955. Soon after, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a Pharmacy Specialist from 1955 to 1959. Upon his discharge, he worked at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kansas and later with E.R. Squibb in Pharmaceutical Sales in Western Kansas. He later changed his interest to Accounting and worked various jobs while completing the requirements for his degree. He graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1974. Following graduation he worked as Accounting/Office Manager for ten years at Western Drill in Chanute, Kansas. In 1984, Jerry married Barbara Tyler in Parsons, Kansas, and they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He held several accounting positions, including Accounting Manager at Arkansas Valley Petroleum and later as comptroller of 4 Front Petroleum. During semi-retirement he worked various contract/consulting positions through AcctKnowledge of Tulsa. He loved cooking, gardening, reading, and golf. He leaves behind his wife, Barbara Ellen Hoover, 9 surviving siblings, 2 children, 5 step-children, 4 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, and 6 step-great-grandchildren. Jerry was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where services will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors.
