Obituary

Glenna Jewel Davidson, age 76, of Verdigris, Oklahoma, quietly slipped away to return home to her Heavenly Father Monday morning, February 1, 2016. She passed away peacefully at the home of her niece, Rayelene Kingsley in Owasso, Oklahoma. Glenna was preceded in death by her Father, Mother, 2 brothers and sister. She is leaving behind her beloved and devoted husband of 43 years, Jerry Davidson, age 80. Glenna was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Floyd Franklin Cunningham and Ruby Drusilla Staggs Cunningham. She was greeted and welcomed into the family by sister Virginia Lee and brothers Willis Ray and William 'Darrell'. Glenna grew up in the Tulsa area, leaving school at an early age to help support her mother and herself after the passing of her father in August 1957. Glenna held several different positions of employment during her lifetime, but was known for her quick and accurate cash register skills during the time when you had to key in the price of every item by hand. She was also known for always being on crazy fad diets such as boiled egg and tomatoes, or cabbage soup etc. She took great pride in her appearance. She always dressed stylishly, always wore makeup in public, and always kept her hair perfectly coiffed. Glenna met Jerry Davidson for the first time in June 1970, at her job at 'Stop and Shop', when Jerry came in to 'check her out' after hearing about her from Glenna's brother-in-law Don. He thought she was gorgeous and 'hot', and as the old saying goes, 'the rest was history!' Jerry and Glenna dated for 2 years before eloping to Miami, Oklahoma on October 3, 1972. Glenna was later Sealed to her beloved, eternal companion, Jerry Milas Davidson, for 'Time and all Eternity' on May 16, 1980 in the LDS Salt Lake City Utah Temple. During Glenna's lifetime she enjoyed and acquired many skills. She was an excellent homemaker with skills in the culinary arts and loved to entertain. She also taught herself to sew and became a wonderful seamstress. Both Glenna and Jerry were/are licensed HAM Radio operators and belong to the Rogers County HAM Radio Association where many acquaintances have turned into cherished and long-lasting friends. In fact, most members called Glenna 'mom'. Finally, Glenna's greatest passion was family history. She was an avid Genealogist, spending hours upon hours tracing her roots. She spent over 34 years doing research and documenting that research. She has left a great legacy for others to pick up and continue onward with. As we say so long to Glenna here on Earth, we feel sadness in not having her among us anymore, however, we know a great reunion is taking place in Heaven with all those who have gone on before her and she is experiencing great joy as she meets and reunites with these family and friends. May we always remember her and celebrate her life! Please contact the family for the service location. Service: 02/13/2016 00:00 2:00 p.m. The home of her great niece.
