Funeral services for Ina Thornsberry Tipton, 95 Tulsa, Oklahoma., will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the East Campus First Baptist Church in West Plains, MO., with family visitation at 1:00.
Ina was born on August 9, 1926 in Richland Missouri. She graduated from Richland High School. On August 26, 1946 she was married to Harold Edward Tipton. They had a wonderful marriage that lasted 67 years, until Harold's passing in 2013.
She was a resident at University Village in Tulsa, Oklahoma since 2015. Prior to moving to Tulsa she was a resident of West Plains, Missouri. In 1963 Ina and Harold purchased the Western Auto Store in West Plains. She then worked for West Plains Cheese and Missouri Department of Social Services until her retirement. After retirement, she enjoyed playing golf with family and friends, traveling, and participating in foreign mission trips. She was an active participant in many card games and activities at University Village. Ina was a member of First Baptist Church from 1963 until her death, serving as a Sunday School teacher and in many ministries in the church. She was a proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother spending hours talking about her prized granddaughters and great granddaughter.
She is survived by, son Timothy Edward Tipton of Tulsa, OK, granddaughters Morgan Elizabeth Tipton of Tulsa, OK, Katelyn Alison Kern (Tipton) and husband C.J. of Oklahoma City, great granddaughter Addison Tipton Kern of Oklahoma City, sister in law Berniece Wehner of Gilbert AZ, and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harold, parents Andrew Thornsberry and Pearl Mitschle Thornsberry, in laws Alva Tipton and Eula Tynes Tipton, brothers Ray Thornsberry, Tom Thornsberry, Hue Thornsberry, sister Mae Hamilton (Thornsberry), brother in law Edgar Thornsberry, and sister in law Virginia Eldredge and numerous loved nieces, nephews and in laws.
The family asked that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to First Baptist Church Food Bank, 112 Walnut, West Plains, MO 65775.
