Jack (Jackie) Ralph Forbis, Sr., age 76 of Tulsa Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Sept. 12, 2021 at home. A private, family gathering (a Celebration of Life honoring and remembering Jack) will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Jack was born Sept. 1, 1945 in Oklahoma City, OK and was adopted at 10 days old by John and Sylvia Forbis, who also had 3 teenage daughters. Jack grew up attending public schools in Central Oklahoma, and he joined the U.S. Air Force at age 17.
After his time in the Air Force, he felt very blessed to attend college with the help of the GI Bill. Jack attended Oklahoma City University, working several jobs on and off campus (including in the Registrar's office), becoming Editor of the college yearbook his Senior year, helping to start the Phi Alpha fraternity on campus, and graduating from OCU in 1970 with his BA degree.
After college, Jack worked for several banks on Central OK in the area of credit management (mostly commercial accounts such as over-the-road trucks). He took, and graduated from, a 2-year commercial credit training program sponsored by C.I.T. Corporation. After that accomplishment, he worked as Credit Manager for several companies in the Tulsa area such as the Albert Equipment company (Caterpillar), Leland Equipment, and Cooper Manufacturing.
He met Ann at an OCU event in 1973, and they were married in May of 1974. At the time of his passing, Jack and Ann had been sharing life, love, and marriage for 47 years. They welcomed their daughter, Heather Dawn, to the world in Sept. 1975 and welcomed their son, Jack Ralph Jr, in April 1978! Jack loved reading to them, playing with them, and yes, even pitching in with diaper-changing!
In the mid-1980s, the family made a job-related move to Central Texas. Jack was very proud of his kids as they grew and became involved in many activities such as Scouts, gymnastics, swimming, Vacation Bible Schools, library storytimes, softball, baseball, dance, karate, tennis, band and choir. He helped coach Little League teams 2 years, and one summer he was chosen to be Manager of the team Jack Jr played on (sponsored by "United Super" grocery in Hewitt TX).
Jack enjoyed exploring creeks and rivers and off-road "dirt biking" on his red, Honda 500 often accompanied by Ann riding on the same seat behind him (or on her small, silver Yamaha) and later by the kids on their 3-wheeler. In addition to his full-time jobs, Jack also had a few small businesses such as hauling brush and limbs, a fence company, a nursery/greenhouse business among other brief ventures. Jack was co-inventor and co-owner of 5 U.S. patents and he loved using his curiosity and creativity to look for solutions to problems. He loved developing new technology, and he ALSO loved photography, nature, baseball, reading (especially science and history), listening to a wide variety of music, doing lawn work (Jack volunteered for 9 years caring tor the lawn at Turley United Methodist Church - TUMC - which he loved and where he was a member), pulling the hay wagon behind his truck for TUMC's annual fall festival hayride, caring for ALL his pets, and more than anything he loved his family. In his later years, he was so happy to be called "Gampa" by his grandchildren! He was very proud of each one.
Jack's survivors include: his wife, Ann; daughter Heather Forbis and boyfriend, Chris Rzepski; son Jack Forbis, Jr and wife Stephanie; granddaughter Michaela Ashlyn Monroe and boyfriend Damion Deronde; grandson, Aiden Jack Forbis; granddaughter, Riley Elaine Forbis; granddaughter, Samantha Brooke Monroe; Michaela and Samantha's father, Philip Monroe; Philip's sons Casey Monroe and Chase Monroe; Sister-in-law Nancy Kruse and husband Rick; Brother-in-law Ron Robinson and wife Bonnie Ashing; niece Katie Baker and husband Grant; niece Clara Corn and husband Joe; niece Abigail Little and husband Saxon (and their little ones, Luna, Cedric, Saxon Jr, and Felix); niece Cherie Sneed and family; Rick's daughter Alyssa Whaley, her husband Paul and little ones Claire and Benjamin; Rick's daughter Ericka Musse, her husband Jobst and baby girl Riley; Ann's aunt, Nola Robinson; Ann's Uncle, Allen Robinson and wife Doris; along with an EXTENDED family of cousins, second cousins, neighbors, and friends!
Survivors also include fur-babies, for Jack also leaves behind a very spoiled Tuxedo cat named Prissy (Miss Priss), calico kitten Apple Jax (Jaxie for short), and spoiled "rescue" dogs Huckleberry, Molly, and Molly's "daughter" Tinkerbell. Jack made a difference! He had a deep faith in the Lord, he put his faith into quiet action, he was loved, and he will be missed very much.
