James Keith Birdsong, 59, of Tulsa Oklahoma entered Heaven's gates on June 4, 2019. Keith was born on July 14, 1959 to Sheila Jo Wise-Corley and Floyd Dean Birdsong. Keith served his country in the United States Army where he was a journalist for 4 years, and an illustrator and paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne for 2 years. Keith would proudly report "the first time I flew in an airplane, I jumped out."
Keith married Karen L. Gibson on June 16, 1979 in Saint Louis Missouri, and the couple welcomed their first and only child Candice Nichole Birdsong on February 6, 1981 while Keith was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. Candice later blessed Keith with two granddaughters Brooke, now aged 16 who shares his love for photography, and Kearstyn, age 13 who is a very talented artist and graphic illustrator.
Keith will forever be remembered as an art icon, and acclaimed Star Trek artist but if you ask his daughter or her friends that grew up within his home they will forever remember him as the "Cool Daddy Birdsong who had stylish clothing, big muscles, and a white Corvette". Keith's daughter Candice reports her dad had the most giving and forgiving heart of anyone she has ever met and feels fortunate to have called him 'Daddy Boy'. She further recalls family, friends, neighbors, and complete strangers gathering outside the window of his art studio to watch Keith create masterpieces which were often mistaken for photographs.
Keith was a true genius with a huge heart and wonderful smile who will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love him. Keith lives on through his art, and through organ donation which has already saved multiple recipients.
Keith was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents JK "Bud" and Dolores "Dodie" Virden of Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Keith leaves behind his loving Mother Sheila Jo Corley of Muskogee, OK, Daughter Candice Nichole Jordan and Granddaughters Brooke Alexis Cowan and Kearstyn Nichole Jordan of Bixby, OK, Sisters Dee Jay Gaugh of Muskogee, OK and Yvonne Evans of McKinney Texas, Brother Jefferey Birdsong of San Antonino Texas, Father Floyd D. Birdsong of San Antonio Texas, Niece Vanessa Pearson of Muskogee, OK, Nephews Frank Doss and Nathan Gaugh of Saint Louis, MO, and girlfriend Vaunda Olivera of Tulsa, OK.
