James Dwight Sims, age 77, passed away August 26, 2014 at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. James was born June 7, 1937 in rural Sumner County, Kansas to Dwight and Elonia Sims. James grew up on a farm in Gray, Oklahoma. He was a graduate from Perryton High School in Texas, and the University of Oklahoma with a degree in journalism. He worked for the Amarillo Globe News and the Tulsa World as a sports copy writer until his retirement in 2004. Jim loved his cats, the O.U. Sooners, and the Yankees. James is survived by his nieces: Terri Bell Blevins and Lynn Blevins, Vicki and Mike Naughton; great nieces and nephews: Lyndsey (Richard) Stevens, Ben (Brooke) Blevins, Garrett Naughton, and Taylor Naughton. Three great-great nephews and two great-great nieces. Jim is preceded in death by his parents; sister: Joan Sims Bell. Services are pending at this time.
