Obituary

Jim Stuart was a man who excelled in every field he entered, through dedication and hard work. He developed a strong work ethic early, as a paperboy for the Daily Oklahoman and continued through high school at J.C. Penney's. Following a year as equipment manager for The University of Tulsa's football team during his freshman year, he enlisted in the USAF Air National Guard in 1970 and became a medical corpsman and operating room technician. That led to several positions at Saint Francis Hospital, first as an orderly and then as the official photographer for W. K. Warren Medical Research Center. He returned to the medical field after certification as an Emergency Medical Technician and Dispatcher in 1974. He was an instructor for National First Responder, National EMT and Paramedic Programs, and Basic Trauma and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Programs. Jim joined the crew of Tulsa Life Flight Emergency Helicopter Service as a Paramedic providing time critical transport of sick and injured patients in Northeast Oklahoma, and later serving as Program Director of TLF. As a Flight Paramedic, when Jim was sent to the scene of an accident, he was kind, calm, and compassionate to the people he was dispatched to aid… on what was perhaps the worst day of that person’s life. He was employed at Saint Francis Hospital for 30 years. Jim was also Owner/Operator of Evergreen Landscape from the 1970's to 1990’s. In 2005, Jim began a new career with Stihl USA power tools as the Territory Manager for Crader Distributing Co/Blue Mountain Equipment, covering the Eastern OK area for 14 years. And then, he worked part-time for Mid-Town Electric Company.

Jim and Linda Pierson met in 1989, and chose to commit to a future together. In 1996, they moved to Sapulpa, a house built in 1906, where they discovered a mutual fulfillment in living and working on their country farm home, and were stewards of the natural and untouched prairie land and the wildlife.

After a year of unexplained health symptoms, Jim received the diagnosis of ALS, Lou Gehrig’s Disease in mid-December of 2025. He was predeceased by his parents, Helen Louise Spavor Stuart, Horace Isaac Stuart, and his younger sister, Mary Catherine Stuart. He is survived by his companion of 36 years, Linda Pierson. His surviving family includes his older brother and best friend John Bruce Stuart (Tish Peitz Stuart), nephew Jonathan Isaac Stuart (Hillary Klug Stuart), and great-nephews James Bruce Stuart and Jack Warren Stuart, and his nephew Samuel Spavor Stuart, all of Tulsa. Jim is also survived by his Stuart, Spavor and Valenti relatives. Jim’s and Linda’s family also includes sisters-in-law Barbara Smith and son Casey Smith (Jessie), sister-in-law Mary Carter (Tim), and children Devin Carter (Verlie), and Ashley Johnson (Bobby) along with many grand nieces and nephews.

Jim made many friends during every stage of his life. Linda and family acknowledge these people for their strong relationships with Jim and for their support. Memorial service will be held at later date.

And at the farm: Sitting peacefully by the bonfire in Winter, the sound of rain and wind in the cottonwood in Spring, the scent of the freshly cut hay in Summer, the tart taste of hand-picked persimmons in the Fall

Jim told his nephews to “Do what you love and be a stand-up guy.
