Obituary

Jan Williams Wells, 67, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away on April 12, 2016 at his home. Jan was born September 15, 1948 in Guthrie, OK. He married Charlene Wetzel in 1971, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was lifelong pet owner, organic gardener, an enthusiastic stargazer, avid road cyclist, an active land conservationist in Noble county, OK and a problem solver. He loved nature, animals, and bird watching. He was committed to beautification of his home state, and the conservation of its sustainable natural resources. He grew up in Ponca City, OK. He was one of 3 brothers. He graduated from Ponca City High School in 1966. He worked as a mason's assistant and an oilfield roustabout in high school. He earned a Bachelors and a Master's degree in chemical engineering from Oklahoma State University. He taught at the Naval Nuclear Power School in Bainbridge, MD from 1972-1976. In his career he worked at the Oak Ridge National Lab in Oak Ridge, TN; in Bartlesville, OK, he worked for NIPER, Phillips Petroleum Company, and retired from ConocoPhillips in 2005. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Pauline and Eugene Wells of Ponca City, OK and nephew David Wells. Survivors include his wife Charlene Wells, daughter Janette Wells of Bend, OR, son Charles Wells, granddaughters Annabelle and Olive Wells of Lebanon, OR, and brothers Deon Wells of Hailey, ID and Gary Wells of Lewiston, ID. He is dearly missed by all. Memorial contributions may be made to Washington County SPCA or Hopestone Cancer Support. Memorial services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at The Unitarian Universalist Church of Bartlesville, 428 S. Seneca Avenue.
