Jeanne Ardith Gilbert Edwards was born to William and Susan Gilbert in Pine River, MN. The family resided there until 1935 when they moved to Wadena, MN where she graduated high school. She attended Brainerd Community College, University of Minnesota at Duluth and graduated with a degree in Piano Performance, Theory and Pedagogy from University of Tulsa in 1986. She loved flying as a TWA hostess based in Kansas City, MO from 1948-1950. She and James D. Edwards, DO were married September 1, 1950. They lived in Detroit, MI where Dr. Edwards interned, then moved to Kansas City, MO for Dr. Edwards' three-year residency in Internal Medicine. In 1955 they moved to Tulsa, OK where Dr. Edwards practiced for 33 years and Jeanne raised six children. Among the organizations Jeanne enjoyed memberships are life membership in Tulsa Ballet Theatre Guild, Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra and Tulsa Opera Guild. She was active in the Auxiliary to the Tulsa Osteopathic Medical Society, the Tulsa chapter of TWA Clipped Wings and she was a longtime member of All Souls Unitarian Church, Tulsa Accredited Music Teachers, Piano Study Club and Hyechka. Following her husband's death in 1994, she established the annual James D. Edwards Excellence in Internal Medicine Award for the outstanding resident in the training program. She was very grateful for the many blessings bestowed upon her. The privilege of teaching private piano students was especially appreciated. Predeceasing her are her husband, James D. Edwards, DO and her son, Kent K. Edwards. She is survived by J. David Edwards of Tulsa, OK; Diane E. and Pascal Grant, Jean-Marc Edwards and Kylie Grant and Joel Pascal Grant of Sydney, Australia; Scott G. Edwards, Nancy Caroline, Joanne Gilbert and Scott Jameson of Anderson, SC; Susan J. Edwards of Anderson, SC; Kirk W. and Amy Edwards, Callum Kent and Poppy Annabella of Austin TX. Service will be held Monday, December 23, 2013, at All Souls Unitarian Church, Tulsa, OK at 1:00 pm.
