Obituary

Jeff was a hard worker and held jobs in many different areas manufacturing, agriculture, automotive, collections, information technology, customer service, and most recently in aerospace at Southwest United Industries. Jeff could do just about anything he set his mind to and frequently employed the phrase 'work smarter, not harder'. He not only applied this concept to work, but to his hobbies as well. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, OSU football, NASCAR, anything involving firearms shooting, and spending time with his grandchildren. Honesty (sometimes brutal) and integrity were two of Jeff's more noticeable characteristics he simply looked for matching words and actions in the people he met and that was how he determined whether or not they were going to be friends. The trust and respect that he had for his friends was truly earned. He was not afraid to tell you what he thought and knew that others would not always like what he had to say, but also that they would respect the fact that he was telling the truth. July 7, 2015 marked the beginning of a drastic change in Jeff's life as he was diagnosed with stage four neuroendocrine cancer. He was in the habit of diligently studying his Bible and occasionally would post his thoughts on the studies on Facebook, but after the diagnosis his posts became more frequent as he leaned on God's word for comfort and strength. When he was too ill to get out his computer was his window to the world with whom he felt called to share the message of Christ. Friends and family alike were touched by his insight into scripture and although he never realized the impact of his posts, it has become very evident since his passing. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Lisa, sons: Sean, Nathan, Kyle and Ty, daughters: Tiffany and Skylar; Six grandchildren: Tristan, Connor, Lizzie, Michael, Danny and Ralston and a host of other relatives and friends. Jeffery is survived by his wife: Lisa Gillilan; parents: Terry Linda Cochran; children: Sean Barnes wife Toni of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Nathan Barnes wife Ashley of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Tiffany Shockey of Potwin, Kansas; Kyle Brandon of Wichita, Kansas, Ty Barnes Vanessa Cottman of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Skylar Tidwell of Wellington, Kansas; grandchildren: Tristan, Connor, Lizzie, Michael, Danny Ralston. The family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital in Jeffs name. Service: 03/18/2016 00:00 Four Winds Community Center Sand Springs, Oklahoma
